Does no one in northern KY play middle school ball? It seems the southern part of the state is playing but anyone north east of Owensboro playing. Any comments?
I know most of the schools in the eastern part of the state start playing basketball in early fall so they can finish before the high school season starts. That way any kids they want to move up to the high school team they can by December 1rst. I do remember North Laurel having a team at the middle school tournament a few years ago. This years state softball tournament is at Heath Oct 2-3.
Marshal County had a nice middle school tournament this past weekend.12 Teams. Graves Co beat Owensboro Catholic 4-0 in final. Livingston Co also looked good. I think Christian County's rain of terror may be over. MAYBE!!!
Hey Webster do both of the middle schools have softball teams? If so they can obviously play but if they don't feed into the same high school then no. For instance in Marshall county they have 3 middle schools and in basketball they all have teams but in softball they come together for one team.
We have 4 or 5 middle schools and none of them have a middle school softball 1 school feeds to north and 1 school feeds to central the other feed to both and the one that the talent is at and wants to play in midle tournaments and things feed to both school. I was the freshman coach at north so I couldnt coach these girls in the fall because they go to a school that feed both schools
None of this is KHSAA sposored, so I'd say you can do whatever the tournament organizers agree to.
Warren East had a little round robin this weekend. If I am not mistaken, the results went something like this:
Drakes Creek (Greenwood) 3-0 Barren County 2-1 Franklin-Simpson 2-1 Allen County 1-2 Warren East 1-2 Moss (Warren Central) 0-3
It wasn't a great indicator of who was best because each team only played 3 games, but Drakes gave Barren and F-S their only losses. So they were apparently the class this past weekend.
