oddly enough I stumbled upon this tourney for a couple hours this am--was in g-town to attend church with a friend (CHECK OUT VICTORY LIFE CHURCH in Georgetown about 1/8 of a mile from the fields !) and he said there was a tourney going on , and he knew of my passion for fastpitch so this am I got to watch a little bit of a couple games. Kt thunder and ?? played a nice 2-1 game. NO Ky Bandits 95 were winning big when I left in the 11;00am game. Oc Outrage was a 1 seed playing later. Did they come out on top ? --coaches from the bandits said there was another pretty solid club that might be able to hang with the outrage.
In ohio this is usually a very dead weekend --1-2 weeks after nationals and tons of teams were having tryouts this weekend -- kinda the time new teams are forming and most teams are done for the summer. MD

Was Ky bandits able to keep it close in the semi's ? They have several very nice players but the pitching looked like it might not be strong enough to hang with the better older 14u teams .
Also my screen shows blackjack made a reply to this thread but it doesn't show to me --could it possibly got deleted --can anyone else see his comment ? MD

Dan-Blackjack was just wondering if the Outrage played in the 14U division. My understanding is that all teams play in next summer's division begining in August (after Nationals).
IF they did play 14 I am confused. I would think that they "went undefeated" by beating 12U teams.
I have spent time on this board complimenting this team but I am shocked that they continue to play below their level. This is what people mean by "trophy hunting". If this is whatthis team does, I would play somewhere else.
IF they played 16's and went undefeated, you have my apologies... |

Outrage played 14u and yes there were some true 14u teams in that tournament. The Outrage has schedule that tournament 4 months ago due to it gets full quickly. I know that your coach tried to get in it also but was to late.
Blackjack, can you say anything nice about the Outrage team because im CONFUSED! Do you just like to down the Outrage team because they beat your team all three times that they played ???? |

that was something that happened a few years by a Ky team that came up to Ohio and played in a fall tourney . This team played 12u against ohio teams and won the tourney (they beat the cincy doom team in either the semi's or finals) and the doom team were actually 10'u trying to prepare for next years 12u season. Meaning a team of girls that would be 1st year 14's beat 1st year 12u's .
The guy I was speaking to oddly did'nt remember the story that way.
When I saw the brackets i knew the outrage would nearly breeze all the way thru --I did ask about the Ky Bandit game in the semi's Was it close ?
In ohio after aug 1st everyone plays where they will be in the following year. thats the way most states do it. MD

| He doesn't want to say anything good because several of his players have been inquiring about the Outrage tryouts and is probably afraid he might loose some players. |

Even if the tournament was scheduled months ago, can any of you read a calendar? Why are you still playing in the 14U division? Most of the teams you beat are 12's. You guys have a nice team, but you seem a little scared to get in there and mix it up with the big boys. Just like the ASA state you made a lame excuse about your girls going to camp, so you had to play in Fort Knox, I know of 5 girls that played the ASA state and also went to that camp.
I am not saying your team can't compete against anyone, but you are never gonna get any respect, if you keep playing weak competition. Then get on here brag about your record, well I guess so, look what you have played. Maybe you would have had the same record, if you played better teams, maybe not, we don't know so until you guys step up and play better competition, maybe you should quit the hype machine. |

Hey my kid's team wasn't even playing that weekend . But I remember the details pretty well. The doom team was coached by Doug Anderson , That current group is moving into 2nd year 14u this year. and this was about 4 years ago. It was the 1st time I had seen them play and was very impressed that a team full of runts with a stud pitcher could hang with with an obviously much older team. (hopefully we join that team full of runts this year ) If my memory is bad you tell me what the gospel is --and I'll buy you a coke or even better --pepsi take care and glad to see you posting Mr Chase :) MD

Mainly I'm just giving you a hard time. I can't remember exactly how old everyone was, my daughter who pitched had just turned 11, that I am sure she is now 14. My best quess would have be about 50/50 on the ages.
Your daughter is not playing with the Stingrays next year? |

will stay with the rays if the move to the doom doesn't work out --also looking at one other team. Rays are retooling for next year but it looks like last week's tryouts went well. Both pitchers left so they had to get lucky at tryouts , looks like they did. and only 1 of the 4 coaches is back. MD

softballhead - I have complimented your team many times (read my posts). I have nothing negative to say. The coaches just need to schedule better tournaments, that's all. You have one of the top pitchers around (IMO) and they need to get her better competition. It's also not fair to the 12's and 13's that you beat 11-1, etc.
I am sure the Stunners coaches don't mind players inquiring about your tryouts. As you can read from his post advertising tryouts, he is coaching 14's again and he wants all his kids moving up to find a good place to play.
You don't see any other team talking about going undeafeated against lesser talent. I tell it like is is for the Stunners, just like Magictime, ilike, cuttochase, Manitou, etc does for their teams. Cuttochase said it best "...maybe you should quit the hype machine". |

MD, have read many of your posts on the OFC. It would be nice if this site could grow into something of that calibre.....although they do have a KY post section that is seldom used. So the Doom is an upgrade over the Stingrays?
As for the OC Outrage: perhaps next year they will play a worthy schedule to be fair to the girls that play for them. That is a lot of talent that will only excel when challeneged. Seems they don't undertand that if you are playing a solid schedule that you won't be going 59-5, no matter who you are. Playing equal teams will amount to some losses. Sometimes team "A" gets you and sometimes you get team "A". They have been around a few years(although they didn't have a 16 team this past summer for interesting reasons) and have traditionally done this. They should know by now that August 1 means teams are in 2009-2010 mode. Here's hoping that they excel at a higher level to represent KY in a positive way where you will get that respect that you are begging for. |

DAd--sadly if you noticed on the home page of this website the owner says it will go "bye-bye" in oct 2009 if some funding doesn't materialize . I'd be willing to chip in a little to attempt to keep this a free site.
As far as the doom being an upgrade --there is no other team within 3 hours of me that approaches the level of talent they have --I feel they have the # 1 pitcher around but I'm not that familiar with Indiana (I know they are loaded with good teams at 12-14u) I know for sure she's the best in ohio --They already placed 33rd or something close to that at ASA's as 1st year 14's. Bill Lilly of "Slammer" fame is putting together a 14u team by hand picking a few of the best kids from teams in his area and i'd love to be part of that because of the instruction but he's 3.75 hrs away . (akron area)
The rays have straightened out their coaching staff and if the doom doesn't work out I would feel very well about staying a ray . thats my scoop
